HISTORY
scheller

1945 - Ernest Scheller founded a privately held, family-owned business called Metals Powder Incorporated in Stamford, Connecticut.

1946-1962 - The company grew steadily and added a finished goods warehouse to better serve paint manufacturers and customers. 1963 - Ernest Scheller's company, now known as Silberline Manufacturing Co., Inc., moved to the vacant Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company machine shops in Lansford, Pennsylvania.

1964 - Ernest Scheller Sr. died and the business continued to thrive under the leadership of his sons Ernest, Jr. and Joseph.

1966

1966 - Silberline established a separate and expanded technical and products application laboratory.

1973 - Decatur, Indiana location began manufacturing. This new facility also served as a warehouse and distribution center.

1974

1974 - Silberline Limited registered and manufacturing plant opened in Scotland.

1977 - New administrative and office facilities completed in Lansford. Decatur manufacturing doubled capacity and expanded warehousing and distribution center.

1981

1981 - Expansion of facility in Scotland and Lansford plant. Company purchased the former Bundy Tubing building in Hometown, just north of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

1981 - The Queen's Award for Exports presented to Silberline Limited.

1985

1985 - Silberline opened its fourth major manufacturing facility in Hometown, Pennsylvania.

1986 - Silberline acquired Alcoa's aluminum pigment and flake product line manufactured at Logans Ferry, Pennsylvania.

1987

1987 - Silberline administrative offices moved from Lansford, Pennsylvania to the new Corporate Headquarters in Hometown, Pennsylvania.

1989

1989 - Silberline opened Asia office.

1989 - Decatur manufacturing facility expanded.

1995

1995 - Silberline's 50th anniversary and a manufacturing expansion at the Hometown, Pennsylvania facility.

1997 - Silberline acquired the former American Home Technologies site in the Tidewood East Industrial Park, approximately one mile from its Hometown facility and corporate offices.

1998 - Silberline achieved ISO 9001:1994 certification.

1999

1999 - Silberline opened Brazil office.

1999 - Silberline acquired Star-Brite, Inc., a manufacturer of vacuum metallized flake pigments in Darlington, Pennsylvania.

2000 - Opening and dedication of The Ernest Scheller III Center for Technical Functions and Advanced Manufacturing at the Tidewood East Industrial Park.
