This product is a resin treated pigment carried in mineral spirits and provided in a paste form.

-Fine particle size aluminum flake pigment

-Non-leafing

SILBERCOTE Y polymer treated aluminum pigments are resistant to acid and alkali staining, while providing enhanced electrical charge resistance in finished coatings. SILBERCOTE Y imparts additional detergent resistance and adhesion properties versus the SILBERCOTE Z series. SILBERCOTE Y is typically formulated into liquid coatings for plastic substrates. This product is recommended for automotive parts and accessories, automotive interior and consumer electronics applications.

Solvent Selection: Polar solvents, i.e., alcohols, esters, ketones having low surface tension are preferred to provide ideal wetting properties of the flakes.

Recommended Dispersion Procedure: Add a sufficient amount of solvent (1/3 to 1/2 the weight of aluminum paste) to the aluminum pigment in order to develop a thick, creamy consistency under slow-speed mixing.

Caution: The use of high-speed mixing equipment, such as Cowles dispersers, may distort the aluminum flake, resulting in poor appearance.

Aluminum pigment should be stored in the original shipping container and kept tightly sealed. Store containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated, and properly rated area. Avoid any conditions that will suspend or float the particles in the air, creating a dust cloud. Avoid all possible sources of ignition.
